When math starts to feel like a wall, it is usually because one earlier skill never fully clicked. Our online math tutors work 1-on-1 with Toronto students to find that skill, fix it, and keep pace with the Ontario curriculum.
Lessons can follow your child’s homework and tests, or use our own curriculum to strengthen a specific skill. Either way, the goal is a student who understands why the steps work, not just how to copy them.
Most Toronto kids learn math in a Toronto District School Board (TDSB) or Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) classroom, and both follow the Ontario curriculum. That means the same checkpoints for everyone: EQAO math in Grades 3, 6 and 9, then Grade 11 and 12 university and college preparation courses for students with post-secondary plans. Our tutors look at the unit your child is in right now and aim to stay 1 to 2 weeks ahead of it.
Whether you live in Etobicoke, North York or Downtown, lessons happen at home over live video, with a colorful shared whiteboard where your child can sketch a number line or work an equation step by step. Older students thinking about private school or schools in the United States can also fold SSAT, SAT or ACT math practice into regular sessions.
In the elementary grades, tutors focus on number sense, place value, addition and subtraction strategies, multiplication facts, fractions and word problems. In middle school the work shifts to ratios, integers, expressions, equations and early geometry, which is where many students first say math is “hard.”
High school students in Toronto get help with functions, linear relations, trigonometry and Grade 11 and 12 university and college preparation courses, including the math needed for university and college programs. Tutors work from the Ontario curriculum and from your child’s actual class notes and tests.
Unit tests, finals and EQAO assessments in Grades 3, 6 and 9 and the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) all reward the same habits: knowing the core skills cold, reading questions carefully and showing clear work. Before a test, lessons shift toward mixed review and timed practice so your child walks in prepared.
For students headed to programs that require strong math marks, tutors also help with problem-solving and communication, the parts of a solution that are easy to lose marks on when the answer is right but the reasoning is unclear.
Start with a free consultation. We ask about your child’s grade, current math work and goals, then hand pick a tutor from our team, which ranges from Certified Teachers and Early Childhood Educators to Subject Experts with professional tutoring experience.
