Question 1

Is there an AP Korean exam?

Accepted Answer

No, there is no AP exam for Korean. Some students take a proficiency test for a state Seal of Biliteracy or a school credit instead; rules vary, so check with your child’s school.

Question 2

My child understands Korean but only answers in English. Can tutoring help?

Accepted Answer

Yes. This is very common for heritage learners. Tutors give your child low pressure chances to speak, then build up reading, writing and more formal speech.

Question 3

How long does it take to learn Hangul?

Accepted Answer

It varies by age and practice, but Hangul is designed to be systematic, so many beginners can read simple words fairly early on. Understanding what they read takes longer and is the focus of later lessons.

Question 4

Can the tutor help with my child’s weekend Korean school?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Share the homework and materials from your child’s program, and the tutor can review recent lessons and help your child prepare for what is coming next.

Question 5

How do we get started?

Accepted Answer

Book a free consultation. Tell us your child’s level and goals, and we will hand pick a Korean tutor and set up lessons at times that suit you.
